what can I get to hold these taps in a MT2 tail stock? been using a MT2 Jacobs chuch but they always end up slipping in the chusk no matter how tight they are

That's a Chinese one but you can get good ones
I have a tail stock die holder, but whats the point in having machine taps and tapping by hand!?start the thread of with tap in chuck in tailstock then loosen it out of chuck and just use tap holder once its lined up i use a tailstock die holder just for the dies think there about 30 quid from chronos

i do it as well sometimes as the taps are center drilled on the endI normally use an ordinary tap handle with a spring loaded centre in the tailstock.

It will just spin your chuck.That’s your problem mate your lathe isn’t powerful enough to be doing gas threads.
