see @Fastdruid answer, I used a very nice VFR750 bike for many years, when good the brakes were up to race performance, after a couple of years they went down to "ok".
I normally spent an afternoon alternate years in the back garden pushing each of the 8 pistons out in turn, polishing them, then pushing them back into place. Results were fantastic.
On my older cars some got the brakes free'd off every year for the MOT and they passed but were never great, the last one I had ended up fitting new calipers at the front and new cylinders at the rear as I got tired of poor performance & time needed just to keep them working. If you can get stainless pistons and new seals I'd go that route for an easy life now & in the future
