Motor wiring question

Three connections are red-red wires, three are black-black, three are yellow-yellow, three are red/black/yellow-mains supply and 1 is red-black-yellow.

ignore the Rd/Rd Bk/Bk and Yl/Yl
Rd/Bk/Yl is the star point.
disconnect this.
then wire these 3 ends to different mains supply ends
Rd -> Bk
Bk -> Yl
Yl -> Rd

this should then work 220V 3Ph. you'll get a cheap inverter for this. (£80 for a 1.5kW to convert it to run off 1ph)

I suspect the Washing machine motor will be too fast for the lathe or just not suitable, otherwise lots of people would have done it before.

What you can't do is run the old motor of 1ph.

I went to look at an ancient Myford (ML4 I think) that was bolted to a sheet of chipboard and powered by an old fanbelt and a washing machine motor. No mention of lubing the plain spindle bearings, the guy just plugged it in and away it went.
Maybe a very brave person could have used it for turning wood spindles but it was essentially no use whatsoever.

I've picked up a washing machine motor, but I have absolutely no clue how to wire it up to a 13 amp plug. Tripped the RCD 3 times already, so i was wondering if you could help me out. Thanks. p.s the back and white wires are the brushes. What do I connect where?
