Bike test has changed ALOT since then !! Yes, extended test, taken last September. There are now 4, yes thats FOUR, components to the bike test. Theory and hazard, CBT, off road practical and on road practical. Off road practical is on a closed course at a DSA test centre and includes the infamous swerve test ! I didn't find that a problem as a previously experienced rider but it causes novices difficulty as they haven't developed confidence with chucking a bike about. When I was at the training centre I saw students dropping it with regularity. Even saw one guy forget to put his feet down when he came to a standstill after the emergency stop !! Just fell over !
The new test definitely weeds out the people that should never be on a bike, which has to be a good thing.
I really don't want to have to do it again though, I was sick with nerves on the day I took my final test as the instructor said he didn't have a problem booking my off road and on road practicals on the same day as I was obviously going to walk it !! Glad he thought so, I was only the poor ****** doing it !
