Fraudsters copy adverts from legitimate websites before taking deposits and fees from their victims.
I know but needs must sadly. I need a bungalow and I just couldn't find one with the outbuildings I want against the location and price we both want!

They do say that house purchase is second only to childbirth in the pain stakes so just think yourself lucky your not a female.Well, it has been a real roller coaster the last few days. Our buyer pulled out so we lost the one we had offered on. We have now got a new buyer and we are looking for somewhere to live!
Hopefully we can find somewhere or it's back to looking at renting/motorhome and putting everything into storage!

My sympathies. It hardly helps, I'm sure, but I don't understand why the English system is so Old Wild West compared to the Scottish system. Up here, a house sale contract is binding (just like any other kind of sale) and it is very difficult for someone to pull out, gazump, gazunder or whatever quaint word y'all have for shafting someone, without repercussions.
I agree - I think agents should be fixed fee.The biggest problem is that estate agents/solicitors are generally on a percentage of the sale so its in their interest to sell property for as much as possible, come what may.

Thank you for your reply. It means a lot to me to hear from someone who is living this right now!Hi MOL, lots of empathy for you, we sold in March after a 9 month COVID influenced sales process and fortunately were able to buy a caravan and park it on my sons drive. We are still here
I had to move all my workshops and car collection and ended up luckily finding a 2400sq ft barn near my sons. Was a godsend although it is costing me an arm and a leg. Only found it because wifey set to calling every farmer in a 20 mile radius and eventually found one with some space. Commercial agents were as much use as a chocolate teapot.
We have offered on a couple and had problems, but being in a no chain position is helpful. Our biggest frustration has been solicitors actually, We have found a house and offer accepted, vacant possession so no complications and our solicitors (local to where we moved to) are total a*seholes, won't respond to e-mails, take over a week to do any single task, basically told us we are not a priority. Missed the SDLT deadline and still no sign of when they will complete.
So my big advice, is find a decent recommended solicitor who will talk to you and be responsive! We now have the vendors agent running interference between us and solicitor as they are so bad!
My second advice is if you can, find storage, bite the bullet and live in the motorhome! We found it almost impossible to find a property that would replace what we had workshop wise at the old farmhouse and if we had held out for one we would never have moved. So slap the stuff into storage, rationalise, move into temp accommodation and then move quick on something you like
My final advice is, if you can, take the long view and have people you can talk too, I do coaching and psychology for a living and I can honestly say this last 12 months of house moving has pushed me further to my limits than I can ever remember
