No air lock, t lost a lot of the power a while ago, no frothing from the pump or anything like, and has oil replaced 3 times so far through trying different things it bleeds up easilyOr even an air lock.
I've also thought about stuff like that but the pump would be making noise due to pressure relief Valve operating which it's only doing on full lockcould be power steering high pressure pipe collapsing internally under pressure not allowing full pressure to the rack
I wish it was that simple, fluid renewedProper / Clean fluid in it?
Had that problem once, fluid looked clean but when I bought some new, the colour diff was obvious
Swapped from a known working vanrelief valve could be operating at wrong pressure that's the cheapest option when you changed it was it used or new
Yeah I could try the jack under each anything is worth a go at this stage although there is no play in the joints but nothing to lose in trying and everything to gainJUST thought----its the mk5the spring doesnt turn! all the load from the spring goes through the bottom ball and they where a B$$$$$$$d for pulling out, and would give no warning in normal running that they where going to go,
when tested you have to jack under the bottom arm itself to relieve the ball ----------worth a try ?
At least you know the problemMine has a similar fault: the tensioner on the drive belt to the ps pump is faulty, so under load, it slips.
I've not done anything more yet norm, been busyAny luck snooper trooper ?
I will check it but not getting any strange noise from front its been like it a few years, its not really bad when moving but for manoeuvre's and parking it could be a contest in the worlds strongest manHad a mk 5 di suffering from low engine oil pressure, the crank pulley bolt, clamps the oil pump which is just a ring around the crank someone had omitted the thin shim spacer behind the pump and it was enough to give low oil pressure but only when the oil was cold and thick ! which leads me to the vibration damper rubber bonding the outer ring on could it be slipping, had jap l200 or nissan one we were convinced it was the belt and it was the pulley slipping . we only found out when it went through the rad !
the vauxhall meriva's had problems with electro power steering faulty part in the steering column'sfunny enough had a ford smax in for test today and i failed it on the electro/ hydraulic power steering not working from time to time no rhyme or reason indiscriminate operation.
wish it was that with this one@the snooper
One of our works Renault Traffic had an issue at low speed on the power steering.
After 4 trip to the Renault dealership, in Trowbridge, with no joy. It went over the road to the Vauxhall.
Who found the lower universal joint on the steering column had partially seized up, new on will be fitted today and I will get a van dumped on me.
