Mitre clamps

Anyone had much luck with mitre clamps. Looking for some with around 90mm capacity. Knows there's a good selection out there, but unless they are accurate then I'll stick with a set of eyes and a square.

I use the sip 9 inch ones. Expensive but good.

The best set you'll ever get are the set you make. Both of mine are home made.

Unless you want to fork out big money you'll end up chucking a cheap lump of cast Alu in the skip.

I have a few of the SIP ones as well they sometimes come up on special offers and are a good bit cheaper

2 X 6mm bars so 12mm altogether.

Make em in a way that you can utilise them for other types of joints
Just add G clamps.

I've got an old cast iron wood mitre clamp that does the job. Found it in a skip obviously.

Yes. It's hardly been used .the same thing happened to my little 130 stick. Took it back to my local suppliers. They been good. They sent it back to oerlikon .they couldn't find the problem. Same thing today with the 200 mp. Went to turn it on. It came on for 2 seconds then there is a click from inside machine and turns off and nothing.

I assume it's under warranty??

Yes. They replaced my little 130 stick free of charge. Taking mig back Monday morning. I might possibly look at others.

I would. They have a good rep with consumables but there equipment is rarely talked about yet it always seemed to be priced at the top end.
I wouldn't know how good there kit is really as I don't hear about it at all.

I just been reading some reviews and apparently it's happened to other machines only a coiled of months old.ffs. might have to go kemppi or something

I have a few cheap ali ones from sealy I think - work fine on box and flat bar ( I use them upside down mind you and clamp to the fixture bench also. It's well quick when your doing multiples of the same and have been using them on enough jobs to chuck them in the scrap and buy some more - because they paid for themselves a while back.

I only ever tack everything and then weld out after! Always have always will

I've always found the cast Alu ones to be a mile out of square deeming them useless for there intended purpose. Yes as a good fabricator you learn to adjust to such inaccuracies in equipment but then that defeats the object of having them in the first place. I'm sure some are better than others but my experience with the cheaper ones are out of the box and in the skip
