MIG 195?

    Hi all, first post!

Most of my welding has been with a combined inverter MMA/TIG machine (in MMA mode only!) and I also have a MIG machine sat in the workshop unused for several years. The only identifying label is MIG 195 on the front. It has 3 switches (Power, 1/2 and Low/High) plus a wire speed dial. There is no settings chart and I don't have a manual.

Could anyone suggest what the 1/2 and Low/High correspond to in terms of current/material thickness etc.

    Thanks.

    P.S. I have 0.8mm mild steel wire/nozzle fitted.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Any chance of a photo?

The power settings range from 1-low to 2-high, as for capacity I'd spend some time experimenting with different material thickness, wire speed & size and draw up my own chart.

    Oops, my apologies. It's 1/2 and Min/Max (not Hi/Lo)

That's the one alright. I'll have to play around with the switches to see what works best. I did swap the polarity and tried flux-cored wire, but the wire had slight surface contamination (rust?) despite being out of a brand new sealed box (and wouldn't feed consistently), so I've put a 5kg regular mild steel spool back in. With the machine on 2 and Max, I promptly burned the shroud so need more shrouds and practice :-)
