You could sometimes get rings with a step in to avoid this ridge. Otherwise it has to be removed.
Come on guys..... Plenty of engines get rebuilt. I do bike engines all the time and did my Landrover engine a couple of years ago. It's fun and an interesting exercise.
Not everything in life is throwaway.
Im still going to carry on with my measurments and calculations then ill ask for some quotes and ill let you all know how much it costs and compare it to the rebuilt ones please carry on with some intresting comments
I will say it's a steep learning curve though and mistakes can be expensive.
Expensive engineering guy I mentioned, screwed up a job on rare old car engine, belonging to another forum member, so high cost and long lead times dont always mean a better job!
