If all else fails poly sheet and rope is very cheap, lashed with rope side to side over the ridge plenty of times to prevent flapping it should last the winter, depending on your wind exposure.

I was gobsmacked at the prices of decent tarps. On the other hand, old lorry curtainsides are really cheap and bloody tough. One side would probably yeild three roof coverings and last for years.

Had some rain last night, and I still have a leak, but not so bad (could still be coming in at the ridge, as the foam hasn’t been trimmed on one side). Tarp ordered, and I will get it fitted some time over the next couple of weeks.
My plan is to use a glue to hold the tarp onto the roof to reduce any flapping, and allow it to contour to the shape of the roof panels.
The edges will tuck under the existing roof edging strips (not the bare roof panel edge), that way there will not be any rough metal edges to cut the tarp. I have some thin foam I’m going to glue over the ridge, and the tarp will lie on that, not the metal edges, or rogue screws.
Thin wooden strips to sandwich the tarp at the roof edge should hold everything down all round. Again reducing chances of the wind getting underneath.
Bit overkill, I know, but it’s a pain in the bottom to work on, so only want to do it once this winter (and not so painful for the neighbours to look at).

Well, single handedly covered the metal roof with the tarp (black side up, because I couldn’t be bothered unfolding and refolding the bloomin’ thing).
Due to the heavy(ish) frost this morning, and the next week being wet and windy, I flung my ‘cunning plan’ oot the windae. I took off the hut roof edging and put it on top of the tarp. Added 14cm blocks tucked between the edging and roof panels, and all screwed together, so water will still drain off roof ok, and tarp sits on the roof flats.
Too cold, and too wet to use the bitumen glue stuff, but I can always do that any time.
Couple of bits to do in the morning, and that’s it hopefully watertight for the winter.
