weld a nut on it ?...blast weld into the centre,allow the heat to penetrate a little then undo with a socket,difficult part is centralising the nut in the well so a socket will still fit,I'd use a mig on a high setting,

think i will pop out and see what room i have to get the biggest nut in i can so a socket will fit in aswell,

I've got those ones off in the past by drilling a hole in the middle and then jamming the hexagonal end of a punch into it then using a large adjustable spanner to undo it.

ah unless i can get a stick welder down there

weld a tube on from the inside (stick rod) saves damaging the wheel

Dam i dont have a nut big enough, but the plan is to get the biggest socket i can down there with nut in it, push down the whole and stick tac the nut inpalce through the socket, this will keep the nut more central, then remove socket and weld the nut inplace fully, then hey ho its out. lol sound seasy.

That's how I usually do the recessed ones, the heat from welding frees 'em off if they're stuck too.

If it works ill do the other 2 wheels aswell and get standard wheel bolts. Was just thinking the heat will help aswell, they are dam tight.

If you are going to do the others I would just go and get the tool will save you time and headache they are 13.19 in machine mart and you will make your money back doing a 10min job in the future

which one is it mate, cant find one that will remove peugeot wheel bolts with out snapping the mushrrom off.

What a pain in the **** this has been, a some know i lost the locking wheel, well misplaced it, 2 week back i sent a ford puma into a gargae to get the clutch slave cylinder done, long story there, i am not kiding you that has been the first time in my life i have out a car i a garage to have work done, not impressed but i have been having pronlems with my arm and fingers so needs must nowadays.

Well after 2 weeks he still hadnt fixed the car, a 2hr job thats all, so i went to get the car today as i have booked it into another better, i hope garage on monday to get it done with an MOT so i can sell it, well i gets home and got some tools out the boot that i left in, and what did i bloody find, YES the locking wheel nut key, good in a way as i can remove the fromt wheels now but i have mangled one of the rear wheel nuts as no key.



Now if he had sorted the car when he said he would i would of had the wheel nut key wouldnt i, so he is part to blame i think, i cant tale all the blame here.

On the other ones that will need to come off in the future, then you can use a extractor or indeed just weld a bolt on. I know the lockers you mean as I have welded them before myself.

Come on Mr snooper give me a bit of sympathy plleeeeas, SWMBO just laughed aswell, i know what happend, it started to pee down and i rushed putting gear away and i was working on both cars and in the rush, well you know, what a prat, i would like to say you live and learn but we will see as i havnt yet.

It could of been worse hey, atleast SWMBO can still drive the car, as when her dont work i have to take her to work, at 3am aswell, i so like to make sure her car is running order all the time LOL

Incidentally and in a wider context, locking nuts aren't much use if you keep the key in the car. Tea leafs just open the car, grab the locking key ('cause everyone keeps the key in the car) and are away with the wheels. I kept the key for the mag wheels in the workshop, but lost it. So no more locking nuts for me

not a good idea to keep anywhere else but in the car what happens when you are out and get a puncture ?

Indeed - keeping it in the car is the only thing to do, otherwise when you get a puncture you're stuffed. Putting it somewhere less obvious than the glovebox/ashtray/with the spare wheel is sensible though. As long as you remember where you put it!

Or having crappy, dirty, flaking alloys that nobody would want to nick anyway

The Pug had a pucnture a while back so we dropped it off a ATS, just easy at was near town so went shopping, they asked if it had a locking wheel nut key with it, we said yes its with the wind down spare wheel with the jack etc, he wasnt happy to have to get it from there and pulled his face as its a weird place to keep it` but then thats ATS for you. Once went with a work wagon for a new tyres, they did it, but after a few months i went back as it got a puncture, they couldnt get it off and said they wont do it as they cant get it off and said to go elswhere, you should of seen there faces when i said its them that put it on, infact the same lad who couldnt get it off, dam grease monkeys they are.
