messed and new to blow a nut off, need some oxy

Hi all, well last week i was checking SWMBO`s rear brakes on her peugeot 206, well i went to fit new pads and i have lost the bloody locking wheel nut key, i did one rear set but the other wheel has a locking nut, aswell as the front two, but they can wait, it has ended up that the wheel left is in need of either blowing out with help of oxy/propane or wheel being smashed off in a hammer throwing fit i will have if i dont sort it.
I have drilled it out to 10mm but the bits i have are now goosed and i have lost the knack or sharpening the drill bits, and i have had enough.

So is there anybody local to Radcliffe North Machester that can help out. i have burning gear but no Oxy anymore. I just wanat to blast out the last bit of the wheel bolt.

The front two will have to wait untill i dont know

I have manage to remove many sets of locking nut in the past by either bashing a smaller socket on or bashing them loose with a hammer and chisel.

It's not normally as difficult as you would think.

Cold chisel/centre punch and a hammer is how I would go, it's amazing what the shock of a well placed hammer blow will loosen

i have only ever had to get one out, ended up drilling a hole through, put bolt through with nut on back and soaked in oil over night, used the head of the bolt and a torque wrench to undo it

E Bay - locking wheel nut removal tool.

glorified sort of L/h threaded socket. Screw it on and turn the nut off. provided this type will screw on, price a few quid.

Impact socket and heavy hammer done loads. The ones that spin smash the outer spinet off first then bash the socket on

Mig or Arc a M12/14 bolt on and undo, some off the recent french car lockers have a sheer nipple on. If you don't weld that on first then you end up with a flat stub that's a pain to remove!

Well guys, thats the way to do it on other wheel NUTS, but this is a wheel BOLT, a peugeot has a mushroom type head and 4 small pins, the mushroom snaps off when a socket is smacked on and turned, the stalk so to say part snaps and all you have is the tapered part with a flat top, nothing to get a socket over. I have undone all the other bolts on the wheel and all are tight good style and tight for a good half the bolt, so not a quick hit with a chisel etc. Also the head is a good 30mm+ into the wheel.

So any other ideas or Oxy

Yeah my post above works on that, I've been in the same boat..... Just weld a m12/14 bolt on and use that to undo it.

if all else fails, take the head back with a die grinder until the wheel can be removed then get some vice grips on the remaining stud.

also the reverse thread lock nut removers work on bolts too, as does the welding a bolt on method or alternatively you could get a length of bar, weld it on at an angle and then you have leverage too.

my method was used on a bolt, just have to have access to the back which i did as the stub axle had been cut off a scrapper cos they couldn't undo the bolt

I have removed loads with the "hammer a socket on method"
Did a Volvo last week
Welded a short length of 1/2 inch square tune on to the bolt (from the inside)
Weld a bolt in to the end of this then hope
No damage to the wheel
Locking wheel nuts are a pain
You can spend longer finding the key than doing the job
Of course the garage was always the last one to have the thing
I now give the key to the vehicle owner in a small bag with the ignition key / card

If you have the box that the locking nuts came in you can take it to the dealer and get a replacement key/another set with the same key

I was watching them fitting the wheels on the production line a couple of weeks ago and they were fitting the same locking nut to every vehicle, apparently they change the lock "combination" every couple of months as the vehicles go to so many different markets/locations the chances of 2 vehicles having the same nuts is remote. Not sure what happens when a fleet buyer orders multiple vehicles though.

weld a nut on it ?...blast weld into the centre,allow the heat to penetrate a little then undo with a socket,difficult part is centralising the nut in the well so a socket will still fit,I'd use a mig on a high setting,

And a new drill, i have a decent big Makita and it has been crunching gears, not impressed.
