You got lucky there with the sellers family. They could have backed him up but it sounds like he has tramped on their toes once too often.
Chances are he'll drink his way through the money from the car sale unless the family hold onto it and drip feed it to him.
My sister was an alcoholic and when she was on the drink she'd beg borrow and steal to feed her habit. So many times we had to bail her out when she got in over her head only to be stabbed in the back by her.

What a story. I feel sorry for the sellers family. I bet the recent dodgy car selling shenanigans are nothing compared to what his mum and dad have had to put up with over the years. Glad it worked out.

I will epoxy glue the 2x parts together and sand / fill / prime & paint the part. Will be good practice anyway and if im not happy with it I can always re print in the future
