You can buy new rubbers for ball joints, they come in various sizes

I tried that with our Suzuki baleno as aftermarket items weren't available. Looked in the other day when changing the oil and they were all cracked with holes in them. I fitted them last autumn. They seemed a bit 'baggy' lol compared to the original boots.

Help! Car has a new issue which has suddenly became worse, and I need it tomorrow!
The throttle is hesitant and lumpy at less than 3k rpm, above that it seems to take off as normal.

Its electronic throttle on this. I note that it also happens with cruise control set, so probably not the pedal position sensor.

Occurs to me that I havent checked plugs, compression or air filter yet.

I did stall it hard earlier. Completely wrong gear and didnt sound good. The problem has been more noticable since then but probably not related. Oil level is good tho is soon due a change.

Do they have variable valve timing? Could it have jumped a tooth on the timing chain?

I wasnt expecting that! Im unsure, wikipedia says more about Fords butchery of the engine than the proper Mazda spec. I believe it has petrol direct injection. 2009 model.

Is there an easy way to rule out a sliipped tooth? Need to know if its safe for tomorrow. Thanks

No idea, I'm just guessing here but might explain why it's rough below 3000rpm but not above.

I had a similarly weird hesitancy low in the revs range on an Duratec engine Mondeo - after stalling in reverse (don't ask). Finally traced to a failing coil-pack.

Recently a odd thing, may be just due to the weather. At slow speed cornering, I can hear tyres squealing!

Now if I were cornering hard, I would expect it, but not for slow speed carpark manouvers.

I wonder if it could be the powersteering or some thing like that?

Any ideas what I should check. Thanks

I get it worse in the van and my Surf in the heat. Carpark tarmac can be very squeaky sometimes as well.
