Master Bodgers....Help Please!

Coolant housing has disintegrated whilst doing a freeze change.
Any thoughts as to the chances of it holding together with fibey or chem metal?

Does the housing just have the drain bung and nothing else fitted to it?

I would try either but look for a new one, Fiberglass on both sides but its stopping it leaking as some times they will. I have seen them welded in the past but its quite skilled and a good dose of luck.
You could put some tin either side and use some PU adhesive to create a sandwich of glue and tin and put a belt through the middle as a last resort.
Whats it for? Could you not just blank it off? Or make a flat plate to fit over and fasten a valve in the middle to bleed it?

Yes, that's the bit broken off. Dunno the point of the larger plug.....

Unfortunately need it back together for Friday morning...next to zero chance of getting a 2nd hand housing in Glasgow area. It's for a classic Saab 900

I'd be going with replacing it with a flat plate too if that's possible

A plate was my other option, really don't understand the point of the housing, the early cars, afaik, had a plug straight into block

Not a chance IMO. Blanking plate or fabricate something is what I'd do.

The other larger bung is probably just to blank off a spot for a temp sensor not used in your application

Classic 900 was the last of the proper saabs so unfortunately no.

It may just have been something they had from another model instead of manufacturing a new component or may have been to do with bulk filling coolant at the factory

If you are on Facebook, could try asking the Scottish Saab Enthusiasts. I loved my old 900, I have plenty Saab bits but all to suit my Saab 96 V4.

Plate + sealant/goo would seem to be the temporary fix then.

Not really, it's in two pieces

I'm thinking double thickness as it's also awkward to get into.

I think you're fortunate that it DOESN'T have any parts common to a Vauxhall.
