That's a big surface area, you'll not hold on to anything, sanders over the 6"x10" Sealey, MM, and SIP size tend to be fed the workpiece.

Look in places like cromwells and MSC J&L catalogues (online) for quick idea of sizes, but there is always more out there.
You almost sound like you need a 'waterfall' or panel sander as used by woodworkers? What is the application?
Are you thinking of a vertically oriented belt with a roller top and bottom and some kind of table/work rest half way up?

Belt would need to be running horizontally for ease of use.
It is for the final shaping of hurling sticks.
Basically 2 rollers one powered by the motor via pully.
No need of a rest/worktop as there would be no real need of one.

I know someone who manufactures belts from another forum and he has a shop on ebay, the problem with custom sizes is they come with custom prices and nobody keeps oddball sizes in stock so just when you need new belts you will be waiting for them to be made.
He is looking for a loose belt sander with no platen by the sound of it and a good machine with a 4" belt would be plenty for the job, it doesn't need to be in contact with all the material at the same time. I do handles on a much smaller scale and use a drum sander in the bench drill for shaping and a hand held sander for smoothing. If you adapted to wider pulleys something like this would be perfectly adequate.

Slack belt grinder/sanders usually need a spring loaded tension and tracking arm to keep them running on the pulleys when pressure is applied unevenly to the belt.
If the pulleys had edges to them would that not keep the belt on track?
Pedro i still think id need about 6/8" width so its easier working the stick with.
Certainly any hurley make ive seen has a belt sander roughly that size.

That uses a 4" belt, you wanted one with 8" to a foot didn't you? That is a slack belt grinder or sander, linishers usually have a platen under the belt to press metal against.

I've always known them as Linishers
