Where would you source your belts for this monster?
Plenty of companies do custom sizes
He is looking for a loose belt sander with no platen by the sound of it and a good machine with a 4" belt would be plenty for the job, it doesn't need to be in contact with all the material at the same time. I do handles on a much smaller scale and use a drum sander in the bench drill for shaping and a hand held sander for smoothing. If you adapted to wider pulleys something like this would be perfectly adequate.Belt would need to be running horizontally for ease of use.
It is for the final shaping of hurling sticks.
Basically 2 rollers one powered by the motor via pully.
No need of a rest/worktop as there would be no real need of one.
Arrr got you, saw one been made one Countrytracks last night.
Certainly any hurley make ive seen has a belt sander roughly that size.
Is there a specific name for the type of belt sander im talking about?
Lads this is hurley making and at 4mins into the video that is the type of belt sander i need, does that type have a special name?;
