This is a re-post from another thread, but i suspect the other thread is too old to gain views on what is largely a new question - so, forgive me, im posting fresh here!
Post below -
Ok, so ive sorted the side bits now, but this bit has me slightly confused -
Basically, the distance between the two, umm, rose joints (?) needs to change.
So, in the photo above, im guessing that the lump of, i assume, alloy has a thread cut through it but whats going on with the black tube? Im thinking that, somehow, the thread needs to spin in that? Or maybe its just another RH / LH thread tube, so the distance increases by 3x the pitch for every rotation?
Im probably going to do the side ones with these -
I bought some for testing, and theyre fine, except that i need to shorten them. Im guessing one of these could be fitted in place of the black tube above?
How should i make the alloy lump to the left of the job? It looks like a custom part - ive not seen anything similar off-the-shelf?
I can route flat alloy plate and then drill and tap the thread, but its the ball bit that im not sure about at all.
Thank you.
