The Rs thing is a good idea though to see them all in one place with data sheets etc!If you want an idea of what is available have a look on the RS website. As i think Daleyd said something like Schneider,Aab,Siemens,Mitsubishi will all have something to suit. You will be able to find cheaper but that site will let get an idear for options. Download a data sheet to see how you would wire in your control switches.
EDIT > as above i am to slow.
I have a mechanical press to update and am looking for a drive in the new year will probably go for the Schneider as i like the look of the remote operation panels

The range appears to have good features and flexibility.
Hi Pete
So considering I pretty much have to remake my circuit/control panel anyway
If I use all functions of a good vfd will I still need all the contactors mcb and overload relays and isolator etc ?
Also by going to a 2.2kw 3phase 240v motor how much power will I use as one thing I don't want is the machine/motor bogging down on half decent cuts
Thanks
Marc
There is a 10hp [7.5kw] version of that for 208quid More than required but you'll need more than the motor is rated for to start it at higher speeds. [i've an Allen Bradley 4hp, and it shuts down after 30secs if running at 2400rpm]
This is the VFD, sold by a person I've dealt with over the last 5yrs, its already in the UK, so what you paid is it. £208.
That will run anything you're likely to buy in the future as well.
In short no you cant connect the vfd to the original wiring as it has to be connected directly to the motor. I have mine connected to the motor and the have run all switches and cut outs back to the vfd control panel so everything runs like I had it on a 3 phase supply.
Im using the original motor just configured it to delta 240v.
The VFD I bought is similar to this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Invertek-...3868?hash=item46470f938c:g:jj4AAOSwzgRWvZpzlr.
Took a bit of head scratching to get me head round the user manual but got there in the end video here
