I know what you mean, it looks lovely on the bench and you're welding like a god. You move out onto the workpiece and weld like an ar*e due to the confined space and your arm wrapped up your wotsit.
You really do have to make yourself comfortable before you start. As my welding is underneath the car, i have a couple of bricks handy to rest my head on and things like that.
So long as it's done now, that's the main thing.
Have fun with the painting!

When all done bogging and painting, post a pic, always good to see a final product, it's good you are smiling
, now dancing around in a workshop lol, what a sight. Good point Rob, my neck hurt like hell when under the vehicle, took a while to work out a suitable head support, get my dog to lay on the floor, resting head on her lol, not really
. Bricks like my head too damned hard, I wear a cap, not nice when weld splatter looks for a landing spot on your head, and rest my head on anything that won't catch fire, thats softish, use welding glove on piece of wood. neck still aches when it is hard to get to.

A coat of hammerite on the inside, I know it's the wrong colour but it works
I'm going to set about getting rid af any more rust next weekend. Theres some surface rust and a couple of patches of worse stuff in the floor but that's all. Tank out job for one of them so may have to leave that a while. I'll just treat it with rust remover until I get the time/money so sort all the problems that I'm sure I'll come accross when I drop the tank.

Had a similar problem when I built the carlton.
Bulk head to inner wings.
Youve done a good job there man hows progress?
I always cut all the rust out all together and weld both sides(bigger patchers are easier that ikkle ones).
I get my steel from my local factors and steer well clear of halfords unless I reely need to.
Go to a motor factors and propa weld supliers you will save money and get good advise...........

Hi, with regards to the weld thru primer from halfords,its designed more for spot welded seams but you can use it but the Mig will burn some of it away,but you can always give it a coat over the top.
(a little tip,weld thru primer is cheaper from a motor factors such as brown bros etc if you have one locally)

Sorry folks. Havn't been on for a while. Also been busy with other stuff so not got much more welding done. Thanks for the advise on halfords and the primer.
Now painted and an 'aluminised glassfibre' heatshield
that I got from rallydesign.com So it shouldn't burn through again.
Theres still a couple of holes in the floorpan but ones above the fuel tank and I just haven't had the time to take it off etc.
And I just got my other car, Toyota Corolla GT-i 16 in for the MOT, it failed on chassis rot. Under the sills I think it was, behind the plastic trim. I'm gutted, expect a few posts about that one soon
, going to try to get someone to look at it. I''m really hoping it's not terminal...
