Yeah, I was quite surprised at how thin and easily it tore down the middle just trying to get it off the roll, feels really cheap, it's not a "patch" on TRex or other decent duct tape

I was choked loosing a couple of old britool sockets took ages to get a couple of old ones of eblag and paid 8 quid each for them to match rather than buy the new ones that didn't

I lost a 13mm socket whilst working on my bike. Was a bit annoyed as it made a whole set incomplete, the space in the box accusing me every time I opened it.

Found it a couple of years later when I tipped the rain water out of my front paddock stand. Now it's the one single rusty socket that accuses me every time I open the box...

I spend half my workshop time looking for stuff I know I have! I have two heat guns because I couldn't find the first one. Along with two dremel type tools and numerous 1/4" socket sets for some reason.....

I “lost” my fluke 773 milliamp clamp meter(about £1000 new) a couple of weeks back - I’d resigned myself to it either being swiped or I left it somewhere and I wasn’t going to see it again.

I emailed the guy at the last place I was working at - I recalled where I was working I ended up moving as some mechanical fitters needed the workbench and vice so I shifted to another bench - (luckily it was a pharmaceutical place with good security) and if he didn’t send me pictures back saying “this one?” - I think if he ever needs a kidney I would probably volunteer one of mine

I've lost a 24" steel rule somewhere, been missing about five years now, I'm still hopeful it'll turn up. Never seen one like it before, I think it was M&W, it had one edge had inches sub-divided in thirds, no idea what it's for but I wish I still had it.

Measuring stuff? Sounds like a couple I have in the cave, on the reverse are printed all sorts of conversions e.g. metric > imperial etc.

I've had one small socket missing from one of my sets for a few years, no big deal cause I've others sets to hand but like you say, annoying. Well that's where autojumbos come in, only this year did I pick up that missing size for 20p.

When Im doing anything I need at least 3 of each tool....hammers seem to evaporate and re-appear right in front of me, once Ive found another.....and tape measures....dont ask me where they go

My tape measure nail goes from 10 to zero in a day!

I'm convinced that someone goes in the shed when I'm not there and scatters my tools around and makes a mess, I can never find the tool I need.

Can someone tell me why, a small nut, washer, spring etc dropped from the vice will 99/100 roll under the bench among the crap that's there when it could as easily roll out on the floor where it can be easier seen?

I had enough of that happening so I cut some flat plate to fill that area in, I use a clip and magnet to keep it in place because I store a trolley jack etc under the bench.

I was looking for a 90 degree die grinder but no one has anything sensibly priced in stock. Screwfix, Toolstation etc.
Coincidentally I was sorting some receipts and found one for a die grinder from 2019. Not that it would be any good as it was a straight one BUT I can even remember buying it....or worse where it is now. Lol

That would be the tangle fairies, they usually tangle up your power tool leads & leave them in a mess but they are full of mischief and will do anything to make your life miserable!

It’s when you spend nearly an hour looking for the tool you just used 5 minutes ago. Then you look back to your bench, and there it is, exactly where you left it.

At what point in my life did my possessions develop cloaks of invisibility.

I like to think that as we grow older, our minds start moving in a higher plain, consequently, we cannot always maintain our awareness of mere objects on the lower level of thinking.

Sadly, I fear this theory may be a load of b****cks.

When I was shed building, a very rushed job, middle of winter a few years ago, I was up a ladder and dropped my bottle of (essential) gorilla glue, just jumped straight into my car and bought some more, found the original a few days later on the rubbish strewn floor, no time to waste looking for it!
