I have two 3 bar shower pumps here running off the oil boiler, no messing with crappy electric jobs
Same here, oil boiler & shower pump.

Do people still fit electric showers?

...and if the switch to "solar generation only" is implemented, you'll only be able to shower in the day...If the stupid government policy of no gas/oil/LPG boilers happens then yes everyone will have to.
6kW shower fed with 4mm T&E so needed the cable changing when higher power showers became available.
Or a contactor with a low voltage switchFit a rotary isolator on the ceiling![]()

The power some modern showers require that would be a good idea, contactor in the loft with a low current pullcord.Or a contactor with a low voltage switch
I thought those things had a flow sensor to turn them on/off ?The power some modern showers require that would be a good idea, contactor in the loft with a low current pullcord.
they have pressure switches fitted so if low water pressure they wont run, they also are fitted with a thermal cut out for over temperatureI thought those things had a flow sensor to turn them on/off ?
Greta is crying.....it's all your fault.....Long term plan is to ditch the leccy shower in here. Now the rayburn is fitted we have plentiful hot water at mains pressure all winter. The thermal store has connections for water solar and immersions so plan is to fit solar of some sort for plentiful summer hot water. So... upshot is we want a nice shower that uses that, not an electric one that pees tepid water in the winter and uses lots of electric!
I said solar a couple of times??Greta is crying.....it's all your fault.....![]()
Your still making CO2 eh ?I said solar a couple of times??
The Rayburn largely runs on wood I harvest from my own land. I only remove dead wood/trees entirely, the rest is hedge and tree management so I dont kill anything. I suspect thats more sustainable than a lot of green washing would have Greta beleive.
Is she a little happier now?
Even the making of solar panels, EVs or windmills makes co2. Its just mine is far less acceptable than Greta's I guess. I plant as much as dies as well. Have a lot of ash with dieback. It needs to come down so why waste it.Your still making CO2 eh ?
I'll wager she likes soda though.....
FWIW i agree completely with your mode of operation, it's truly solar powered, the trees gather the solar energy,
and use that to sequester carbon.
That's makes too much sense.....which is what the Greta crowd is sorely missing.Even the making of solar panels, EVs or windmills makes co2. Its just mine is far less acceptable than Greta's I guess. I'm lucky that I have a bit of land to do it. But very little is done sustainably these days generally. Personally i feel thats why the world is in a bit of a mess environmentally. That's makes too much sense.....which is what the Greta crowd is sorely missing.
The flex is just laid loose in the loft
i always layed shower cable in attics clipped on top of a plank of wood above the insulation. it seriously derates it and overheats it under the insulation...63A
Not under insulation is it? That can drastically affect the current carrying capacity of the cable.
