Looking for a new TIG set, what to get?

Question regarding the Tetrix, when you change any setting is it displayed digitally on the panel?

EDIT: What is the going price for Tetrix 230 with the smart panel (is that the better of the two) and what are the water cooler options? inc price?

This is out of the handbook which happens to be a foot away from me at all times LOL

This is the Comfort 5P panel push buttons for most settings and large knob for amps and small knobs for Balance Frequency and Tungsten size

thanks for that Tigman, I seen some images so I knew it had a digital display, what I meant was say if you turn the AC balance, or pulse time does it display on the digital display the number for accurate settings?

eh no not the balance and frequency they have there own dial see no`s 4 and 5 but pre flow, post flow , upslope , downslope , amps , pulse times , all come up on the digital panel !

There used to be 3 front panels.
ive seen watercooled version for €4500

The one thing that put me off the R-tech is it only displays the amps on the digital panel, so the rest is a bit guess workish, 100 hz on my machine didn't sound like 100 on the other machines i've borrowed, so was keen to have it display it specially for that price ect. I believe the Kemppi does.

You wouldnt have to worry about that with the ewm.if it says 100hz on an analogue dial you could take it as gospel.
i think it has the right balance of knobs for frequently changed settings and hidden menus for stuff that doesnt get used as much

Its got too much going on ! I was very confused at the begining but seem to have it now , has a nice function for balling up tungstens ! memorises settings for individual jobs , im in love with it ! lol

I also found that a pain, not being able to go back to an exact setting you found worked well on a previous job,
obviously not only the 100hz part but also ac balance percentage, pulse settings, post flow etc,
not a personal gripe against r-tech but a general thing of similar machines in this price range,

As said earlier i went for the miller but also condidered the lincoln v205 as that also shows the exact digital number settings for each perameter you click into.

The job memory thing is a good feature to go back to for once you find a sweet spot on a particular job,
its not a feature that ticks the box for me, i personally like to set things for each job on its on own merits,
for example, you may want the ac balance at 60 to suit the amount of oxide on a particular ali but have several different welds on the same workpice, ac frequency at say 60 for a flat butt weld, 80-100 on an outside corner and then maybe 150 or so on a fillet weld around a threaded fitting to keep the arc tight and save the edge.

I agree I havent set any jobs in memory I like to fiddle and alter things as I go , I do one job that I could set to memory , but its a simple hole filling on brass blocks and not much to set !

The panel and layout of the tetrix would suit me better than the miller IMO

The thing with the memory would be good for me, I do alloy wheel repairs so takes more time setting welder up than welding so would be good to turn machine on and just weld.

Other thing is I do allot of cosmetic stuff on alloy inter cooler pipe work and other things under the bonnet of race cars so need it to look consistsnt, so nice to have a set for that so I know I'll always get same results.

Was going to say unless I'm told otherwise the Tetrix seems to be nearly a £1k more then the Kemppi, I can't find anyone that sells them uk for cheaper?

R-tech have always sold other manufacturers units. (They no longer, not looked on their site)
