Looking for a AC/DC tig welder for home use.

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone here has good tips for AC/DC TIG welding machines. I've been searching for a while now, and it seems quite challenging. I see a lot of Chinese machines that are significantly cheaper than Western brands (and have better features). However, I also read about some defects...

Just to let you know, I'm based in the Netherlands. There arent a lot of dutch forums around for some reason so I'm gonna try it here

What I'm looking for:

• AC/DC
• 200A
• Pulse features
• Support for a foot pedal

Having a plasma cutter is nice but definetly not a must.

Some machines I have my eye on:

• Jasic TIG welding inverter 200A AC/DC Analog Pulse Inverter
• Vector Welding AC/DC TIG welding machine and plasma cutter NewYork 2500
• STAHLWERK AC/DC TIG 200 pulse with plasma ST

Any tips, experiences, etc. are welcome. Thanks in advance!

big question is what power supply do you have , and do you need to move the welder much , there are some real bargains in older 3ph machines to be had
and of course , what can you get fixed locally.

Thanks Tom! I don't have acces to a high power outlet so it needs to work on 230v (16a). I dont think I'll move the welder a lot.
Oh and btw, I was thinking to get await with around 1k euro or 900 ish pounds.

Tight budget ,,, do you you have all the other stuff ,,, mask , gloves and gas ,,,, that gobbles up a budget plan rapidly.

I have more te spend, the ~1k euro is just for the machine. Unless every machine in this budget range is bad I'm willing to loosen up

Maybe investigate Rtechs range ?

ACDC tig welders are complex things, Id be looking for a longish warranty and local support. Search out your nearest welding suppliers and see what brands they sell, then report back.

Most brands now have far easter components if they are not made out there.

Good point. Maybe I shouldn't fear the Chinese stuff as much and just buy from a respected dealer that does returns/support well.

If you can get hold of a Sherman Digitig 206P - the JASIC clone then they are probably the best value for money.

Sherman Tig (Jasic in disguise?)

Has anybody come across these Sherman welders? They look basically like a blue polish Jasic at half the price but with only a one year warranty. I was looking at the 206P vs the 200 pro mini I'm guessing the Jasic has a better torch, but the machine itself looks identical. E.g. Jasic 200 Pro...

Another vote for the Sherman 206P aka the blue Jasic; I had one. Personally, having had one and needing to use their customer service to return it for repair, I wouldn't consider R-Tech unless they had sales and support in The Netherlands.

If you can get hold of a Sherman Digitig 206P

Will be interesting to see whether the Sherman sales ban extends to the Netherlands (they don't sell it in the UK anymore but quite a few of us managed to buy one before they stopped the sales).

Rtech is sold in the Netherlands, or at least a line of machines that looks very much like them under the Freetech brand name.
However, the Jasics do seem to be good and cheaper then the Freetech.

I would think they can't restrict shipping within the EU like they did with the UK...would surely break all sorts of competition rules?
