I got the Hillman 15 years ago when I was living near Darlington (50 miles south of Newcastle), I collected the car from Wales. At that point the car had spent 5 years based in Wales with a year on loan to South Coast.
It looks I went from one end of England to the other, just to bring the car back where it came from.
A few years later I took it to my local back street garage in Crook for an MOT - they were convinced they had sold my actual car to an odd chap who turned up with a load of post-it note directions (no map or satnav) and was planning to drive it back to Wales
The chap I bought it from confirmed it - coincidences are strange things !
Spec was 1725 with overdrive, I rebuilt the engine and got the overderive working and used / abused it as a daily workhorse for many years with no drama.
It got written off in Devon 6 years ago and went to Wrexham to be put back on the road, I replaced it with a Marina estate, the Hillman was an older design but a lot nicer to drive.
