Linisher sanding belt size?

Did wonder. Rare to ruin a belt on my big sander. Usually only by hitting a burried nail or screw and shouldn't be an issue with a linisher

ive clipped a couple of new belts with a sharp edge and ripped them was well choked off . only have about 8 of the 6inch ones and stacks of 4inch . I only use course belts on the 6inch and fine on the 4inch . I converted the 4inch to vertical stuck a half hp motor on it and fitted an adjustable table to it and a protractor

I bought some off eBay cheap just recently. Four belts 40, 60, 80, 120 grit except I ended up with 2 60's and no 80 and:

I won't be recommending that seller...

Was it a one-off seller, or one of the big traders?

Ie am i likely to hit the same seller by chance?

How on earth do you get a hole in it? They must be pretty poor quality.

Snagged on corners. I use the to smooth edges of square panels, holding the panel against the stop / fence.

If i drop the far end wrong, it snags. Sure, operator error, but, sometimes, i have to do loads of these, late at night, in a rush, etc.etc.

Again, possibly a faster belt speed would help. My motor has a small diameter pulley, so ive probably got half the speed, and double the torque.

Are "roebuck" belts any good?

£43.60 for 10-off, delivered.

£4.36 each still isnt what i was hoping for, but ive not found better yet.

I know zirconia lasts better (i use them on my finger sander, and its night and day with longevity) but, as i say, i rarely smooth them down before killing them another way, so i doubt it would be worth it for me!

mine run just over 1450 rpm the direct drive ones of the motor will be 1450
