that's very impressive you must have lots of free time!
Photo's of the crane were added. The photo far right shows the boom fully extended and flat. This was a challenge because of the weight and no counterweight because of the motors of the winch. The plates made from alu helped bring down the weight but lifting loads isn't much.

I know you can't cost your time, but what did the materials cost?Well, the packages from eBay kept coming in so there was no way to quit! The amount of parts that were used is 15,000 incl. nuts and bolts, or close to that figure. So the parts bought but never used used or the mistakes made down the road must be omitted. The costs is difficult to say really (and must be secret of course).

The crane boom is assembled with steel wires attached. There is a series of photo's that I made for writing down how to assemble it in sequence. The sections 2 and 3 are telescoping and the model has ball-bearings instead of blocks. Yes there are friction blocks that help guide the mast and reduce play somewhat. All this was needed for smooth operation under load and reduce the darn friction at the end of the stroke.
I wanted few parts that are decorative. There is chairs, a steering wheel, air-tanks and side mirrors mounted. Steps are detailed and 1 fitted on each bumper and front fender as well. The point is the ladder or construction of the crane in this case made from steel that makes noise/squeaks, you better run away from. Considering it's the other way around with ladders made of wood. Sorry, it's a gag, it goes on serious again from now on.

The slewing bearing is a standard industry part and it sits on the chassis with an adapter ring. The large rings are thicker steel compared to normal rings so the construction is rigid. The slewing gear pinion is driven by a gearbox motor.
The lifting ram has the same gearbox motor and it's very powerful. I needed the 12Volts, but could only get the 24V versions, so I converted the power supply accordingly. The connectors of the motors are conveniently color coded and I think exactly the same as the márklin railway's.
