You guys should really club together and buy in bulk. All it needs is a few of you that live locally to each other. You will get much better deals because you are buying in bulk, any carrage costs are split between a few of you, making them cheaper. It just has to be delivered to one address. The savings you will make are very great indeed
. For the price people have paid for those lidl welding rods, you could have got some quality welding rods. Mig tips have to be a classic one, ask weldequip how much a bag of 100 tips are (silly money) something like that split between 10 of you is a massive saving.
Same goes for flap wheels etc. very cheap if bought in bulk.
People should perhaps make more active use of this forum, by creating buying co-operatives. from fellow welders that are local to each other. Well worth the effort considering the savings you can make. And you all know what Malcolm is like, if it was something that was using forum space, he would just open another forum section, where you could all work out what you want and club together to do it. As its a benifit for forum members.

This really is a good idea. Might well be worth throwing open to a vote to see how many are interested and how easily members could be grouped by area

benji i really do think its worth it. not so much for me as i already get reasonable deals from suppliers because i buy in bulk. But seeing some of the prices you DIYers pay for bits and bobs, is actually quite high.

Of course the greatest one might be to use the forum as leverage, to gain discounts. Perhaps Malcolm in his spare time could become a weld distributor. then we could just order direct from the forum.
