Lidl today

I have 3 lidl fire extinguishers. One in my kitchen, one in my truck and a large lidl one in my workshop, not had to use any of them yet and I hope not to

Those inspection lamps at a tenner are very handy when working/welding underneath a car. Because they use low energy bulbs, the cover is made of plastic so there are no problems from stray sparks when welding unlike those with a mesh or glass cover. Even though the one I got last year is still fine, I'll probably be grabbing a spare next Monday.
( Spare bulbs from 'more reasons' for only 39p as well... )

I bought a pair of the fire extinguishers last time they had them, aint used them but they seem ok quality! Got them both fitted in my van

I use a bog standard inspection lamp with a low engery bulb, they're near enough indestructable!

Normal filament bulbs go if you even look at them funny....

large lidl? isn't that an oxymoron?
Have to say, I wouldn't want to risk my life, livelihood and w/s to a cheap fire extinguisher, never want to have to use one but I'd like to know it will work if ever I do. Cost a bit but we have ours on a contract, get checked and topped/replaced if necessary every year. Pay cheap, cost dear, as has been said elsewhere on this forum.

I understand your reasoning Ratty but as it has a pressure gauge on it I can always see if it's charged but as I said, I hope I never use it! They're all TUV marked and made in Germany so I'm pretty confident about the quality. I was a mechanic for 8 years and I think our fire extinguisher only got used in anger once in the 8 years I worked there although we had one guy who would automatically spray it in a car if there was even a wisp of smoke after welding. We very nearly came close to a full-on inferno once cos one guy drained a fuel tank into a plastic bucket, placed it on the floor, uncovered next to the ramp and proceeded to weld the underside of the car. My boss spotted the flames and the bucket melting! It was a VERY close one!

Just in case anyone is in the slightest bit interested, there's some "motoring" type stuff in our favourite supermarket from this thursday. Nothing that special, but a trolly jack for under a tenner aint bad. Also the headlight bulbs are less than what they rip me off for in Lucas, and the cheap wheel trims might be an investment for the trailer
