I bought the saw, punched out the roll pin, and eliminated the spring loaded thingy on the trigger bar. Also bought a couple packages of the air fittings. The male to female thread contact on the fittings is very poor, a pi** poor fit for sure, and same with the saw; but I like the saw itself, especially at the price.

EDIT: The Sand Blaster looked like a plastic toy. The one I bought a couple of years ago was all metal, and you could slip a suction hose over the stem to draw sand out of a larger container; a good tool....... Here's a photo of it.

Got my 'sand'blaster with 2 bottles of grit today. It cleans up rusty metal quite well, but boy does it get through grit!

There's a bloke locally who claims to sell 0.2-0.5 mm glass medium for only £6.50/25 kgs. Unfortunately I only have his mobile phone number which went straight to voicemail. It's a pity that real sand is a no-no out in the open air as I don't have a cabinet (or room for one) in my workshop.

The two square linked magnets are good as well (I don't know if they are on sale at the moment). Very powerful wish I'd bought another couple or three or four.

I used on of the aldi air fittings on a regulator i had on the wall and it leaked air from the off. I got rid of it and bought a good one and the shed doesn't have the annoying constant hiss.

I bought one of those setups a while back. I didn't get around to fixing it up until yesterday and the female fitting on the long hose wouldn't seal when the tool was removed.

On a different note: I've decided there's enough room outside my workshop to install a blasting booth. And that I've got more than enough materials to make one! If only I had some way of sticking the metals together.

ok so been out in the garage testing the tools, the air sander is crap needs a push to get it turning thats going back tomorrow and the grinder has the nut and gland missing so that can go back too. The needle scaler is pretty useless even held it on to my hand didnt feel much so i tried it on the manhole cover would just about take the dirt off of it

the air ratchet is not too bad for the money and it is 1/2" drive my clarke one which gets a hammering is only 3/8" so it will be nice to have the options
the connectors are ok for the money

Have you got the air turned up to 6BAR or a bit over? When I first plugged mine into my wall mounted dewatering/oiling fitting the output had been factory set to about 4 BAR. Definitely not enough to blast any medium.

Despite my previous statement, the Aldi extension hose has stopped leaking air. Also I've finished the outdoor sand blasting cabinet. Just the window to cut and fit and I'll take it for a test drive.

Don't think it would be very good as it's not going to be practical (or even possible) to lift the file for the return stroke so it'll end up very blunt very quick.

Bill, die filing machines & hand held filing machines don't lift on the return stroke,they stay in contact with the job all the time.

Can't see them lasting long before they're dull then? Or maybe they're special files that cut in both directions perhaps?

Hi Bill my die filing machine(an opus 120) cuts on the downward stroke only &the work is in contact all the time I have thiel files but use parallel hand files as well &they last a long time. I also have a Swedish diprofil hand filer & it would be impossible to lift on the return strokes .

Using this

with some dried play sand (don't ask) I've done this

Obviously this was after an overnight pickling in my electrolysis derusting vat.

Just a 'roof' to add to keep the worst of the weather off them and it's all systems go.

One more tool made from scrap to keep the cockles of my heart warm over the Winter
