How much cut will I get from the Aldi non compressor model with an air tank made from a 13 kg Calor gas tank ?

I have a 12 v fridge compressor that could run off my solar and fill me one tank of air for occasional use.

That would depend on the pressure the fridge unit can deliver to the gas tank
How thick the steel blank is.
How many times you have to replace the torch consumables when the pressure drops below 45.

Roughly a foot of 3mm steel- maybe.

a little fridge compressor can make pretty decent pressure

you'll need an air filter after it to remove oil mist from the air

I'd think a 13kg gas bottle would last a lot longer than a foot of cutting

but you'd really need to keep the compressor running to keep the tank topped up for any use other than a quick small cut

Some fridge compressors can achieve 20bar+
I often thought a small one of those running from solar would be a good use of solar without the expense of having a battery bank.
If you had a suitable tank then the more pressure you can stuff into it, the longer the run time you will get.

Or daisy-chain a load of bottles together but then, ideally you would want some sort of staging valves or once you've drained them down the first time, it will take forever to refill which would be annoying if you only wanted to do a little bit more cutting.

For convenience though, a small, cheap 230v compressor would be the easiest to use and would only take a couple of minutes to fill to give you enough to do a small bit of cutting.
You could also have a big bottle that you could charge up in advance if you had a longer cut planned

I see they have a flux cored mig welder as well,anyone used this welder.
I am reasonably competent with arc welding but have no mig experience,
and have rear sills to repair on my mk4 golf for mot.
Getting somebody to do the repair is practically impossible.

Seems like a bargain to me! I paid £199 ~seven years ago for a generic CUT50 shipped from China

There was a thread on here somewhere but I think the one with the compressor was £149.99 but didn't come with the pilot torch.

I'm sure someone in that thread found the pilot torch on its own in a German lidl and had one sent over.
Not sure if they will sell the torches individually over here at any point but you might be able to get one as a spare part now?

Parkside pilot arc conversion

I have the parkside performance plasma cutter. It has a pt31 torch. I would really like a pilot arc conversion kit for it but Lidl never sold it in the uk. could I buy the components separately?

I have a Parkside PIFDS 120 A1. It's a fantastic wee machine for the money and if you are already competent arc welding you should pick up the basics of gasless MIG pretty quick with this as the synergetic settings are spot on out of the box. It's the machine that ends up being used for way more than it should because it so light and portable. Grab yourself plenty of spare wire to go with it. Get yourself a good auto darkening helmet if they have them in, the large viewing areas on their latest model is great.

If they are selling them in Ireland then I would expect them to be available in the UK soon.
Once they are you might be able to get the torch as a spare.
Although I've got no idea what parkside spares availability is like?

I don't think lidl ask for any details when you buy it so they could just give you the till receipt?
Presuming the seller doesn't mind showing you how much they paid for it!!

Or do you have to register online to get the 3yr warranty?

Just been looking at this. The parkside kit uses an AG60 or SG-55 torch plus a couple of dinse connectors to add an extra earth socket for the extra wire on the lead. I think you could use a banana plug & add a panel socket for it connected internally to the earth.

This torch uses different consumables to your standard PT31 torch.

Recently took possession of a set of 25 replacement consumables for the plasma torch .
IIRC £16 direct from Alibaba , took just over 14 days to arrive but were less than half of the eBay & Amazon prices who were quoting the same delivery time .
First time I looked for new nozzles ceramics and bits I couldn't find any anywhere other than if I paid eyewatering prices from Parkside Germany for a pack of five .
