Last night my Lenovo G580 wouldn't boot - basically just gave some boot options such as a HDD, CD or ethernet connection. Nothing will work, and I can't get the options for safe mode, last known settings which worked etc - though I doubt if that'd work anyway.
I checked everywhere to confirm what I thought - that it didn't come with a recovery disk. I think it has the hard drive partitioned with a very small D: which I always assumed was for recovery, but as it won't boot this seems to be of no use.
It's on windows 7 which I don't have a disk for, so am pretty stuck - I had to go out and buy a replacement to have something to use!
Does it sound like the hard drive has died? Apart from wanting it working again, I could do with a file that's on there - within a few days. As 'luck' would have it, I did a backup fairly recently which, providing it works, I can manage with, but it would save me a lot of time and work if I can recover the documents. Taking it to a computer shop isn't really doable as I'm working silly, unsociable hours.
Any thoughts?
