Lathe VFD settings with a ?

Just checked and the r does not change from 0 and the F goes from that to H as you say and goes to the 49.9 from what i put it to by the knob.

ill look through your setting and see what they are.

I altered the P21 and now the r shows to the setting of 1455rpm. with the 50hz.

So i need to keep it set at 50hz and not alter the knob at all otherwise it will damage the motor which is 50hz ?

No you can alter the knob (pot) which will slow the motor, you may loose torque at lower settings and if the motor also supplies cooling airflow this may be affected too. Limiting it to 50hz will be the top setting and not damage the motor by over revving.

Now i have sorted the issue with not enough rpm at the chuck and can get 950rpm at 55hz.

Now though to get the full rpm of 1000, in this case i am set at 950rpm. I need to set the Hz at say 20hz and turn the VFD up very slowly to get to the 55hz otherwise it just wont go. the VFD seems to limit the power/hz to the motor and will drop back to 15hz or less.

Now once i manually get it to the 55hz in the gear for 950rpm, i stop it then set the VFD to 55Hz and turn it on and it gets to 950rpm fine.

Any idea why ?

id it straining the VFD or motor ?

If this is the data plate from your motor then the motor will need a 7 amp supply at full load when the motor is wired in delta.
Is the vfd set to overload at a lower current like 3 amps as your previous posts show less than that. Ok when the motors not loaded the current will be lower but it may explain the problems you are having

I assume the inverter is 230V output so perhaps a daft question, but have you got the motor wired for 230 V delta connection?
If it was star connected the performance would be very poor with only 230 V going in.

Yes it is wired in delta and that is the motor plate

I will have to check the settings you mention as i dont know what to look for yet, well which setting to look for there are so many.

This is where the slightly better units with auto-tune come in handy. I had a VFD that was whitsling and not working particularly well on the motor it was driving. Ran the auto-tune and it ran much better and much quieter too.

I looked at P78 which on this is Main current overload and Default/original setting is 18000 should be 3000mA according to the instructions. I havent altered it incase i messed it up more.

Not all by looks of it, . i asked a while ago but got nio reply, i have no clue on these things.

Get an electrician in. You'll be going round I in circles If you can't understand the Manual

You'll need to tell the inverter your Max Current, voltage, rated rpm, poles at least.

Then if your inverter has it carry out auto tune

Top of this page kida. i have set the Hz to what i was told, well was told 100hz but it only goes to 65. And the rpm to the motor rpm which is 1455rpm.

Is it set at 3000mA? If it is that is 3amps. To run that motor it should be 7000mA. I’ve never used one of these vfd’s. The ones I’ve seen all have the motor current in amps rather than milli amps

well was told 100hz but it only goes to 65

But the motor is rated at 50hz at 230v and 60hz at 280v.

The rated current of the motor is what you enter. Where does the 3000mA come from? The manual doesn't know what motor you're going to connect to it.

In the two vfd manuals I have on my phone both have instructions to use the information on the motor data plate ie voltage, rpm, Hz and current to set the parameters on the vfd correctly
