Lathe VFD settings with a ?

Okeydoke, i have set up, well setting up the VFD for the lathe.

I have set it to 50hz for the motor, and max 1455rpm for the motor also, and emergency brake now as it was slow to stop now it it great when you press the stop on the VFD.

One thing i am lost withn is when turning down a steel bolt i had spare i noticed that when removing 30tho the rpm would reduce by half. Tonight i had ago with the setting as above and it reduced rpm even with 10 thou be removed.

is it a torque setting i need to adjust on the VFD ?

if not what can be causing it ?

i cna get a video if needs be to show what it does.

Could be torque... can you monitor motor current? Is it maxing out? Is the current set correctly?

I have just been playing and before I did I reset the Motor Revolution to 0000
I started to make the Motor adjuster arm I want , did a bit of turning first then drilling to 11mm it was fine. Very odd.

I will try again tomorrow and see how it goes. As it waa playing up untill then

Oh and not sure ifni can monitor anything. It's all a bit tech/non understanding to me.

Read through he setting a good few times but don't have much of a clue what half of it means.

You have previously been warned of applying braking with a screw-on chuck. Expect a large lump of chuck and workpiece to land on your toes, or worse, if you insist on applying a brake when stopping the lathe.

Ignore us at your peril.

It has a screw to lock in the chuck.

Done far far deeper on a Colchester student that was 3hp so doesn't seem like that's the issue to me . Just my two pence

My experience is with mainly abb, you need to know when it slows down what current it is pulling...

Also check it is 50hz not 50%

I am sure it's the motor slowing. There is no clutch just gears in the headstock. But I will check tonight. And yes its 50hz, its the standaed setting in the VFD that can also be changed.

What about drive belts slipping?
You will be able to monitor motor speed / amps on the vfd display.

One thing I have been trying to programme but unable work out. The reading just says 50 all the time. Which I think means the hz.

It's a 3 belt drive and tight.but still ill also check that. The motor sounds to drop in speed.

that's because mine is running and yours is stopped.
Have you altered any of the P26 to P49 settings?

The values that @RichardM has shown are with the vfd in run not in stop like yours

Difference running in running is the A is 2.8 to 2.95, E 244.0 and the P 26 is 50 as from when i set it up and not changed it.
