Oh look you've got your own little self-powered swarf-mop
your best bet is get to newark autojumble its massive ruffoths ok but its getting less traders .the owner is pricing them out with high rentIm bored at work and wondering what future purchaces i will be needing for my lathe .
Im not happy with the static phase converter so was wondering what the best plan of action would be to replace this , currently i only have the lathe which is fitted with a rather small 0.9kw 400v only motor , would it be wise to upgrade this to a vfd and a 2 or 3hp motor and sell the phase converter , only problem i can see is my current motor has a 19mm shaft so id have to replace the pully.
A friend of mine suggested converting it to single phase but ive read the 3 phase is a better motor and you also have the option of variable speed should you require it , and dont forget the t300 speeds are exactly half that of a m300 even though the motors run at the same speed .
The lathe only came with a5 inch 3 jaw chuck and some basic tooling , i will have some dickson toolholders coming next week and hopefully a dickson toolpost .
When looking for a faceplate do i go for the largest size. Can fit in the lathe ?
And what size 4 jaw chuck would it be advisable to buy .
Up to now i have only purchased a right hand kennametal 16mm indexable tool with ccmt inserts and keeping my eye on ebay for a left hand and a boring bar , whats the best parting of type to get , indexable or the hss blade type i put in the dickson blade holder .
Sorry for all the questions guy , im just bored at work and just thinking ahead .
Id have liked to have gone to rufforth yesterday but had to go back to work on thursday so that stuffed that idea up
