Latest Transit van without a wet belt?.

Mulling over changing our family car for a Transit of some description to allow easier Caravan towing and packing.

Probably want a 2l or 2.2 Diesel.

Just wondering what's latest version available without a wet belt?. I suppose I'd rather not have the faf of Adblue either to be honest.

Would that be Euro6 vehicles?.

You have to go back a few years for a non wet belt planet killing diesel. I have the last model year they made the 2.2 L Duratorq diesel, its 2016 Custom, after this the wet belt fiasco was introduced to save a few kg of emissions, ruining the reputation of the marque. Theres still a few 2.2 that are about, clean ones are fewer these days, but well worth waiting for ......mine just ticked over 157k, got loads of umph (150BHP), does 46/gallon running about, and runs as sweet as a nut

It looks like the Eco Blue is Add Blue and Wetbelt.

Be careful as some touring sites wont let you on if your towing with a van.

Is that a Euro4 by any chance? Apparently they were miles more dependable, which kind of points the finger at the injectors and or ECU causing the issues.

Just checked the v5. it's euro 5 emissions.

Just having a chat with family.

I did my towing test in a 2018 Hi Lux, I think one of those with a proper cargo cover might be a better option.

Will have to look into it but that towed like a dream and Japanese build quality too.

Yes I work on motorcycles for a living and the Japanese are a cut above everything else.

EcoBlue is the branding name for the Panther 2.0 engine. They all have wet belts and AdBlue.

If they're maintained (ahead of schedule with the additional preventative measures) they're actually a really nice engine, they drive well, are quiet and pull pretty well too. I had a 2019 AA van with one and it was great, and towed fine too.

Very common on late Puma diesel engines, injectors fail and cook pistons. Mostly on 2.2s but the 3.2 5-cylinders like to do it too.

Whoever is charging that is scamming you. When i've done them, using genuine Ford parts, it's been £700-800 i think. Including dropping the sump to inspect/clean the oil pump pickup.

I don't even charge 4,500 for Sprinter chains where you take the engine out to change it.
