They are starting a kickstarter campaign on the 18th of DecemberI know a lot of you consider this to be witchcraft but what do you think of this.

Your weld shop turned into a battle ground eh ?I'm not sure I'm safe with a MiG.
Not going near a Laser![]()

As the alu wire is simply a metal surface adjusting the parameters for melting it and perhaps having to use argon gas is all you need to melt both surfaces , Obviously using the cleaning mode first would be very beneficial so no more scrubbing & rubbing it would seem .I was right - a game changer!
Obviously not for all types of welding.
I wish they would show it on aluminium. Considering that is probably the best thing to use it for I find that strange!
I did find this video - from the makers so a bit dubious but no reason why it wouldn't work.
Fantastic video , well worth watching ,Alec Steele has one now
even if you detest his irritating squeaky voice ,I was right - a game changer!

My lass Alison has been standing by me watching the videos .. Said " My love your MMA MIG & TIG welder cost £1500 almost 10 yrs ago , soon you might like to upgrade to one of these when the prices drops a little.Certainly not near explosive gas cylinders or very high pressure gas cylinders , unless you want someone to be able to claim on your life insurance before they exclude claims for injuries or death caused as a result of using a laser welder .I'm not sure I'm safe with a MiG.

I agree his enthusiasm can get a bit much sometimes too but theres no denying the kid Knows his stuff , the steam hammer restoration is worth a watchFantastic video , well worth watching ,even if you detest his irritating squeaky voice ,

Deffo a keeper from the first time I heard her voice 40 yrs ago .Sounds like a good womanmy wife is the same, not looked at laser welders mind, but when I look at something & umm & ahh & say at 76 I can’t really justify it, she says go on, treat yourself.
I would rather watch Nicolas Parsons doing Sale of the Century ,,,Fantastic video , well worth watching ,even if you detest his irritating squeaky voice ,
I always liked him. On mastermind or another quiz show one of the general knowledge question was "Where were Concorde's wings built." The chap answered England. He was so shocked when he was told he was wrong. Broughton is in WalesI would rather watch Nicolas Parsons doing Sale of the Century ,,,
and thats saying something .... iykyk
and for those who dont know ,,,,, heres the Xmas Special

Have made fixtures to laser weld copper plug welds, no filler, no holes. As the alu wire is simply a metal surface adjusting the parameters for melting it and perhaps having to use argon gas is all you need to melt both surfaces , Obviously using the cleaning mode first would be very beneficial so no more scrubbing & rubbing it would seem .
I dare say that it will be possible to laserweld all manner of metasl so long as your feed wire is the same material the laser is just a heater device to melting points , without massive volumes of excessive heat being applied .
What amazes me is the UK's DragonFire anti drone/missile laser system is 50kw. You can now buy a 100kw laser head and driver system on ali express for about £30k! Obviously you need a mount, tracking and fancy optics but that is stupid power! When these are mass produced what price point do you think they will come at?
£2k, £1500? I thought those induction heat tools would drop in price as they got popular but they don't seem to have, in fact they are way more than we paid a few years ago. (Exchange rate a factor obviously)
There's a big difference between kW and kWh. I suspect the DragonFire has the ability to survive 50kW for measured in minutes, if not near continuous. I suspect the 100kW head will probably last for a few seconds at 100kW if you're lucky. What amazes me is the UK's DragonFire anti drone/missile laser system is 50kw. There is a guy on YouTube called Joshua De Lisle who does some good tests up to 10mmLovely I want and will eventually get such a beastie .

I wonder ....... if instead of chamfering say at 45 Degrees or so for chamfer that if one was put in at a shallower 20 degree angle so it goes deeper into the middle of the or right through to the other side would you be able to do multiple passes to fill up the chamfer varying the power the thicker the bead as you fill out the chamfer , thus in effect fully fusing all the metal along the weld ?
Imagine how good this could be in the hands of someone who thoroughly read the instructions before using it.Fantastic video , well worth watching ,even if you detest his irritating squeaky voice ,
Not at all. They are used on big industrial cnc cutters! There's a big difference between kW and kWh. I suspect the DragonFire has the ability to survive 50kW for measured in minutes, if not near continuous. I suspect the 100kW head will probably last for a few seconds at 100kW if you're lucky.
