Laser level for outdoor use

Right, Im going to be doing a few jobs in the near future. Tiling, 2x kitchen fitting, so any of the decent lasers will do, but Ive a few outside jobs, and a biggish shed base.

So with out spending fortunes which ones work outside, in daylight with out braking the bank.

But id say get a cheaper cross line laser and a slightly better rotating laser for outside.

Most decent crossline lasers should have a detector purchased as an extra which extends the range and will work in daylight.
Same as you would use with a spinning laser.
Keep meaning to buy one for my pls.

I was just coming here to post that very same thing. It's a "long proven proven" method, the ancient Egyptians used it to level the bases of the great pyramids. Cheap and it has the advantage, like the vertical stack prototyping pharma factory I once visited, of using gravity. "We like using gravity rather than pumps" the old boy said, "as most of the time it works".

Yes it works but it's not convenient for fitting a kitchen or tiling though.

I’m in the same boat. It seems like lasers go from around the 100 quid mark to 1000 awfully fast, depending what you need.

You can get enhancement glasses that make the line easier to see. Get a pair and a cheaper laser will be visible outside better.

had the same problem using the laser outside......(large barn base).....I'm sure they are better after 15 years......§..

Shouldn't matter with a receiver

Yes it works but it's not convenient for fitting a kitchen or tiling though.

In my defence I bought it to use in the garden.
I have a cheap Lidl laser for indoor use for jobs such as tiling, kitchen fitting and most importantly - picture hanging.

Oddly the use of a laser caused more argument between #3 son and me when fitting his kitchen. Up a bit, down a bit endlessly before we realised I was aligning with the top of the line and he was aligning with the bottom.
Two fag paper difference over 4 metres. We agreed to differ and call it good enough!

Used the same cheap laser to set out #2 son's garden. Used it at dusk, with the special glasses and a sheet of white paper. Worked out to about 15 metres.

the stand is handy and was well used in all the house

its now his to use and he will do somewhere just needs 2 batterys but get duracel for it take them out when jobs done

one other thing the tripod can be used with a mobile phone holder as well

thats the cross line is use, its brilliant tand to use it hanging door frames and various other jobs. for the money cant be beaten

i know stands and lazers are expensive, as i have another sort it quotes 15m but if you turn them its 30m if its in the middle of the room

the stand is easy usage has its own bubble level to level it and turns well the lazer self leveled and was spot on it just uses a switch to lock the line in place while transporting it a good reference

sunlight a pain but in certain conditions you can see it well

for those that dont have one they are worth there money if you have a few uses and many more uses it could be used for

Plasterboard prop and a handlebar camera mount makes a great stand. I pop it up on a corner and can hit any height without faf.

You need a receiver. Even Leica or Topcon lasers can’t be seen further than 30 meters on a bright day.

Inside use, the options are endless, its outside, think the dewalt, with the receiver will work. Unless I can borrow, an alternative, its really only for a couple of days, to set the base out for my new livestock building, so needs to work over about 30m max. Once the sheds up, Ill just use a level on the road formers, for the concrete.

Laser levels online are very very helpful
And if you speak to them they will recommend exactly what you need
Modern lasers have so many options that you are best speaking to them as the options on there website get confusing

The one in the second post is a red laser, I’m told green is better for outside use. Would be good if someone can confirm that.

These are really good self levelling and with audio which is useful with light pollution outdoors
