This is another myth guys.........easy to work on. No removable crossmember on most of em so go to all the bother of taking gearbox out of the side door.
Every nut and bolt is rusted and needs to be cut off. Every engine leaks oil from rear crank and people put up with it? Yeah cos engine out is a pig to do a seal which is gonna leak again sooner than later.
Brakes that need constant adjustment and swivel hubs that leak so much people end up putting grease in them and then bush fails. Water that pours in doors and heaters that never worked on the drawing board never mind the car. I can understand people making an emotional choice in buying one but these are the facts. One of the dudes on LRUK rebuilt a Series. He bought all the fasteners needed for total rebuild.................800 quid for nuts and bolts...Did I mention the diesel engines which are just about unusable and selfish in the extreme to other road users on any kind of hill?
