Hi,
I've got a Land Rover in my garage at present, it belongs to one of my old man's friends. It's just failed it's MOT on 5 spots of welding that need doing.
I've been offered £150 to do the repairs for him, so I said I'd take a look. It's not a load of cash, but it's a friend, and with an 18 year old Daimler, money is one thing I never seem to have enough of. I can get nearly 2 tyres for that anyway lol.
I've got some pictures below, I'm not sure whether I should attempt it or not, and I'd really like some advice. The pictures are of probably the worst bit, which is the front chassis arm on the passengers side. It's already been plated before, which you can see in the pictures, and it looks to me like I could end up cutting back and cutting back and cutting back to get to good metal. Also with it being a chassis arm, I think it's already been weakened enough personally, and it could really do with replacement.
Given the pictures, what would you do? I'd rather not take on something that I am going to spend a month on for £150, but I dont mind doing it if it's simple. Someone's already said just chuck a plate on over the top and don't cut back, which would get it through an MOT, but it's not a proper job if you know what I mean.
Matt
