Wear ear defenders Kim-tinnitus is no fun me and my mates have it from being in aircraft and firing guns before folks recognised the risks.Riding motorcycles has not helped either.So hammering/grinding whatever, clap a set of defenders on your head.

My friend rang me yesterday, he's been doing a Land Rover for someone and it was nearly all back together then he came to fit the doors 
They wouldn't go anywhere near the keeps and they sloped back and down about two inches. We had to slacken everything off and jack the door pillars forward with 3x2 and a scissor jack to get them to fit in the hole. When they were tightened up and closed it went for MOT and passed so he can get it out of the way now. Keep plugging at it Kim you'll get there eventually it'll probably cost you your sanity and empty your bank account on the way though.

Sorry, I'm having an awful time with it. Paint prep just makes me want to shoot myself and my backs been so sore. Not getting enough done to warrant an update.

yeah, take a break, I always feel better able to tackle the bits I don't like when I have had a break from the project. Recharge your own batteries and give the owd muscles chance to wind down.

It's not so much a break, spent the last two days fixing my boyfriends defender while he's away. Rebuilt the front axle today
finished at 11.50pm, started at 8am, can't wait to have some time off. I hate cars lol.

We all hate cars Kim, its the fixing that should be enjoyable. I have an "enjoyable" day on Sunday keeping a rally car on stage.

It's certianly not enjoyable. I'm going to see if I can start on mine again this week. I wasn't going to laqure it but now planning on possibly doing it. Although if I do it'll mean I won't be able to touch it up

Annealing the alloy helps immensely as Awemawson mentioned and Pete is spot on with learning from things going wrong. I'm reminded of an old saying my Father used; The man or woman who has never made a mistake has never made anything.

Hi guys,
have lost interest a bit, been really busy with other stuff recently, mainly fixing my boyfriends defender which literally sucks the life out of me. Once that goes back I should have more motivation to finish mine. I've been thinking about the paint allot as well, I'm really not cut out to do it, not to my standard at least. I'll get it done proffesionally. Colour will remain a secret as well other than the two people that know . Sorted some parts out this week anyway, I think I'll get engine in next. Just need to spend the £400 on clutch and fly wheel.

Hi Kim, good to see your back, having a bit of a break maybe a good thing, you'll be back with added enthusiasm, I hope so anyway. I think we've all missed our updates/fix, what's been going on with your boyfriends? It sounds like it must be major if as you say, "it's sucking the life out of me" after what you've done to yours, anything else must be a doddle.

Hmmm, where do I start. Both swivels needed rebuilding, then all the wheel bearings, rear callipers needed rebuilding with new disks and pads, fronts need the same but not the urgency of the rear, pretty much every bush and ball joint could do with replacing. The list is never ending. Non of them are easy either or quick.
Maybe once the engine is in it'll be a bit of added enthusiasm.
