Thanks for the update, glad it's sorted. Some poor connections look good and test ok with a meter but break down when you put large current through them - ie when you actually need them to work !
I've done something similar in the past: rebuilt a project bike, fitted a "known good" battery that came with it and clamped the battery terminals up tight, went for a test drive through town and broke down outside my local pub.
I ended up calling the RAC, they came out and found a poor earth at the battery (the bolt on the earth cable was too long so it was hitting the battery case and stopping - almost good but not quite clamping up tight![]()
It's always 'obvious' after it's fixed
