That does seem very odd considering both mine have them, and they span a good many years of production - I haven't taken the cross slide off to investigate where the ball oiler goes but I assumed it just dumped straight through on to the top of the slide.
I do have a spare machined saddle/cross slide but it is so buried I can't get to it to see if it has one too.

The later L5 manual does show there being a hole in the boring table for a bolt/screw holding the nut in place but while it shows a 4 slot table the hole is between the first and second slots.

It does look like the early L5 table (but that has 5 slots) and the nut looks very Harrison but the dimensions are too small to be L5, the main critical measurement being that 3.158" (80.2132) where the L5 cross slide is 103.25mm at that point (and the saddle itself is 91.01mm so even without a gib strip it wouldn't fit).

Yes got the spindle bush. Same as Harrison 140.

And it actually has Acid etched onto the face of it, "4.5MT TO 3MT spindle bush"

Cleaning up now. Picked up kerosene and oil this morning

Just about ready to refill the gearbox after cleaning with paraffin and flushing with 2l of oil.

Paraffin/kerosene really does whip grime off, doesn't it.
