Kerry 5-½" AG Lathe

23" between centres. 5-½" centre height. Serial number 1817.

Looking for a manual please, Google doesn't seem to have much on these lathes.

Must be early 60s I would of thought.

Have a small selection on changewheels, 127T gear, fixed steady, collet chuck, 4 jaw, 3 jaw, 9" faceplate, 14" faceplate, dog plate, lineboring table, spare crossslide screw, maybe a spare tail stock screw.

Alternatively they should all be on the Kerry group over https://groups.io/g/Kerrylathes, its not very active but they respond quickly and very knowledgeable guys.

I've got two of these if you need any info, did you get the mythical spindle taper adapter?
Never heard of a lineboring table as an option for these - that would be interesting if you have pictures.

Yes got the spindle bush. Same as Harrison 140.

And it actually has Acid etched onto the face of it, "4.5MT TO 3MT spindle bush"

If you put 'Boxford boring table' into Google, it shows ones with three slots and two slots in the opposite direction.

The Harrison one Brad shows has five slots and no holes.

So we have to find a picture of one with four slots and a hole.

Got the cross slide off.

Can't see any method of oiling the cross slide. Nor the compound.

They weren't too dirty to be fair. But any wear has definitely been caused by insufficient Lubrication I should think

Im Missing something from the back of my tailstock if anyone knows what it should look like?

Possibly not

Morse taper of tailstock needs reaming or sending off for grinding. It's not great inside. Spun a tool a fair bit.

As you say, all pictures you can find online are the same.

As to what it might be used for, maybe to bolt something on to make the tailstock self-ejecting. Maybe to convert it to a lever-operated tailstock.

I'd considered it might be for lever operation, but not self-ejection. Interesting idea.

You are not missing anything from the tailstock brad - mine are both the same.
I suspect it has something to do with the Rapid Feed Attachment

From the brochure "... all tailstocks are machined to take this easily fitted attachment, with graduated feed dial and adjustable stop it is ideal equipment for production drilling."

There should be three ball oilers - front and back of the saddle which are visible in your picture, and one at the rear of the cross slide - present on both early and late models.
Excuse the dirt, they are in storage at the moment, need cleaning.

There are also various oil points front and side of the Apron.

I've now stripped the cross slide and can confirm there are no oil points or oil channels on the cross slide ways.
Strange really. I would say the slight wear that is present is from lack of oil.

I do have the ball oiler that oils the nut of the cross slide, and the ball oiler on the back of the cross slide leadscrew which oils the thrust bearings.

I may add my own way oilers. For the sake of half an hour on the mill.
