Keeping cats out of a garden?

my dog craps in my own field and ive caught a few passers by letting there dogs crap outside my gates with my cameras. it only took one warning sign on a post outside that said anyone seen on cam doing it would get it put through there letterbox and more besides :flame:

Keeps the cats out, I have it set up pointing at where they come in. They are not stupid. They learn that my garden is a bad place to be. And there's no (permanent) harm done.

Like I said, I don't want to hurt or kill the cat(s) I just don't want them attacking the birds, which are now vulnerable due to the feeders I put up

If my dog wasn't lazy/simple/scared of the rain/a typical whippet, he would probably scare them off with no harm done, however due to me being on call today I've spent most of it at home, he's been out twice for a ****, ran back inside, had some food and came in to my office with rspca eyes when the heating went off. Cat deterrent he is not

there was a program a tv a while ago and the bird feeders lowest point was 6 feet from the ground and a cat jumped up from the ground and got a bird

I recently had to squirt a bit of antibiotic into our cat's eye a few days in a row. He was always in the way but I haven't been within 20 feet of him for about 3 weeks!

I recon a placebo would work just as well for your purpose, try some petroleum jelly in as big a syringe as you can find

If the cats were wild would they then be welcomed into your garden? Would you put food out for them?
More over if the birds were pets, let's say someone in the area has a flock of Pidgeons, would they no longer be welcome?

They are all just natures creations, how about trying to appreciate the beauty and grace of the cats as much as the birds.

Just a thought.

I'm feeding the birds so I can photograph them, I know it's a bit selfish but they wouldn't be in reach of the cat if I hadn't put the feeders out, so I feel I should at least try stop the cats attacking the birds
