Frankly, I do not find it a particularly relaxing place currently.

Sometimes I'll go into the garage on a weekend with a coffee and sit on one of the ex BMW mancave seats....and just sit in the quiet. A bit of car cleaning and general pottering, boring to most but good times for me.

Frankly, I do not find it a particularly relaxing place currently.

Needs a bit of a tidy up...

Can see good collection of vices, chainsaws, height gauges, machines blocks, Haynes manuals, CNC mill. lots of good stuff.

I try to escape to my workshop at least once every evening. I usually take off my hearing aids before entering my sanctum. No music, no TV, no phones, no computer. Just the purifying, meditative murmur of an air compressor or the soothing hum of a rotary three-phase converter...plus a bit of tinnitus, which I usually automatically tune out.

I spent a couple of hours today blasting corrosion and old paint from a bunch of parts for my M37. It's amazingly cathartic and satisfying to watch the crap disappear off some dirty old part and end up with something that you want to handle with clean gloves on to avoid leaving fingerprints.

Yeah, you can see them but you can't reach them. Pretty sure there is a floor in here somewhere...

You're not wrong, that is the best part of having a large hoard. Worst part is knowing you have something but being unable to find it.

There is an entire section I haven't seen for years. In fact there are two: a large floor to ceiling shelf unit and the back row of a racking bay where I think there are at least half a dozen complete engines (RGV/RS250, XT500, CR500 etc.) and countless spares for the same.

The plan is to whip out an 8x4 steel table and replace with a giant surface plate/welding table (machine bed) which should just leave room to squeeze a Bridgeport in there.

Breathing in the air.

Sounds mental but now I'm feeling a bit better it makes me feel good just coming in here and sitting down even if I'm doing nothing.
The smell of oil, rubber, petrol and Kid Rock on the radio, it settles my soul.

Not for nothing was this one of my first cnc projects.

I often nip into the workshop for 5 mins, which becomes an hour or two,

I have one of the lights on a timer so it goes off after an hour to remind me to go back inside
