Perhaps shocking is not the right word anymore.

I will listen to anything, sometimes more than once, and then decide if I like it or not. All music has something worth hearing. After all Mozart was the 'pop' music of its' time.

Thank you Flathead_Dave, I organised some HobbyWeld yesterday, a bit more than others, but local and able to deliver.

I cut the crud away yesterday afternoon, so with a little bit of practice, I hope to have an MOT soon.

Dearly Beloved and I used to camp on the bike, then the outfit. She still misses it, but now I am feeling better and this 'little'project has cheered me up no end, apart from the hiccups, I might look at the outfit again.

Wayy off topic!

As a student in the 1980's I hated the Velvet Underground, all my house mates played it and it sounded awful to me then- droney rubbish badly sung played over two chords.. I'm more of a classic hard rock/ metal type of chap.

However! Inspired by this thread, I've downloaded the album from U tube and will give it a listen at the workshop today. I may be able to like it by cross referencing with the Doors and Pink Floyd etc. Think of it as punk/ progressive rock/ psychedelic.

Nico sounded all mellow and germanic while Lou reed and John Cale went bonkers on drugs and sang about it.
The early stuff is not commercial it is primal rock and roll stuff. I can remember being bored by it in the 80's as well. or was I bored by the people playing it?
