Just got this home minutes ago. Brand new Sealey Diesel space heater. Model AB1008. It is new never even had fuel in it.
£90. It does not run at all.
Story goes that it was a return where the customer may have swapped their bad motor into it. The guy I bought it off had bought it from FB marketplace before. He took it for repair and the motor inside it has been diagnosed by a hire place as having a short to ground fault and needs a new motor. They quoted him £177+vat for a new motor so he took it home again and offered for sale on FB again. Then I bought it today.
I do want to confirm the diagnosis so I will take it into my garage and open it up shortly.
Any words of advice on this please - what is the best way to test the motor? With a multimeter? I presume it is also worth opening up of possible incase it's something simple inside the motor if it has a new appearance like the rest of the heater. I have fixed these before but never had an actual electric motor fault.
If it is bad I am thinking the motors may be generic or I may be able to get it repaired/ rewound?
