Bit of an update and some new stuff...
CSOV turned up today, fitted, airpath 'learn' routine run. Road-tested & gone.
Another sales car from a trader, L405 20MY, a couple of issues - restricted performance & lots of smoke, smelling suspiciously of diesel, a quick smoke test shows one of the charge air hoses adrift. refitted with new hose clamp and onto the next defect.
Cabin temperature imbalance side-to-side, checked HVAC DTC's and 'cabin temperature sensor fan stuck' a quick check confirms why....
Yuk! - the hair was strong enough to stop the fan impeller which draws in cabin air through a grille, God knows how it got there, the workshop hoover dealt with the issue.
Next on the list, Infotainment won't play radio or TV - no stations listed.
Sure enough, no noise - but it's possible to connect by Bluetooth and USB and play sound.
No DTC's - in fact no comms with the media controller at all!
Removed the passenger seat to find some very old signs of water ingress....
So that's a new, well, exchange unit required then - £1500ish.
Only other thing worth of mention today - not my task but I've seen plenty of M-B's with this issue...
Reported symptoms of random loss of power with EML, sometimes a restart will clear it, sometimes it won't... Already had a VGT turbo replaced elsewhere despite there being no DTC's indicating turbo issues - plenty of EGR codes though.
'Under guidance' the exhaust shutoff flap was checked (this is required for EU6 diesel vehicles with a low pressure EGR) - found to be free as a bird, which it shouldn't be.... it should default to fully open against spring pressure.
A new exhaust section ordered (£720) and that'll be another carpark space freed up tomorrow!
It's worth pointing out that no amount of 'mapping out' would have fixed this mechanical defect.
