The Jago Jeep (or possibly Geep?). Lightweight and Ford oily bits, Cortina, Escort etc. Also, forget the name, one that was simply dropped on a Range Rover chassis.

Just remembered- how do I carry all this stuff around in my head?- the other one was the Eagle, also Ford based.

I think you will find Rickman did a sort of utility vehicle based on a Cortina. Not quite a Jeep, more like a Suzuki

Early Jago’s were called Jeep later changed to Geep for legal reasons If memory serves me correctly. A friend had a swb Anglia based version, he put huge wheels on and arches and it looked like a roller skate!

The UK ones mainly. My favourite place Magnetic Island still has quite a few Aussie built (I assume they are) ones running around. Been going there since the late 70s and remember they were there then as well.

i have one it looks like a Suzuki jeep but has a tuned 2.1 rs200 engine 5 speed box. lowered bilsteen turret shocks and uprated front suspension itsd an absolue flyer and handles brilliantly bad news is its been left outside for the last 18 years

I had an Austin Champ in '69, bought it tow a boat back from St Trop to Pool (9 mpg..). Also used a Mini Moke with a pokey engine in Portugal, drove it back to UK in March. No side screens or heater and REALLY not fun. But both of them were hardly kit cars.

The guy that is renovating the Ginetta lent me a book that listed all the UK kit cars. There were a huge number, makes one wonder where they all are. Must be hundreds of barns hiding treasure
