Back to my previous comments about needing a 3D printer to work straight out of the box, even a photo printer does not do that if you stray from the manufacturers papers.
Now waiting for news on the resin printers...
Will report back when it gets delivered, but after watching quite a few youtube vids it seems the only major problem is the part escaping from the plate. There definitely doesn't seem to be all this replacing-leadscrews, motors and lots of other parts to faff around with.
I hope, anyway...

Got one good PLA print last night. Thought I would try the funnel in PETG that I really want today and it wouldn't even think about it. I am unsure about why the funnel is on its side, although I understand that vertical holes can become out of round. With the funnel suspended in mid air, I assume that it builds its own supports first and the first support is so small, there is no chance. I was under the impression that PETG was stickier than a stick insect stuck on a sticky bun, but I might as well have greased the glass plate! Cleaning is done with hot soapy water, rinsed under clean hot water and allowed to dry. Then I clean with 99% IPA. Even adding the craft glue achieves nothing. The bed is levelled after each attempt.
This is what I need to get printed urgently for a brake flush on my bike. I would be happy to pay someone to print it for me, whilst I get to grips with it. Any takers?

The reason that I found from my research is that vertical holes end up oval, which doesn't happen horizontally.
Because PLA is eaten by brake fluid according to the info which accompanies the design. An iABS modulator is far too expensive to risk contamination!

Finally got around to making & fitting some bed support arms. Several failed attempts, for various reason.
Also fitted some wooden blocks, felt either end, underneath the feet, to try & minimise sound transmission to the big sounding board underneath.
It's now in its permanent spot, in the nook in the bedroom.

That would really help Matt, I appreciate it.
I started another test print of a project box in PLA. The skirt came away immediately, but the larger pieces appear to be printing, although not perfectly. I thought I might have another go at the funnel afterwards, but this is a 12 hour print apparently!

Ive never noticed any problems with vertical holes being out of round. Any printer that hasn’t had the e steps set correctly for x y and z will not print correctly

Personally, I don't think so. My first instinct was that even though brake fluid might theoretically attack PLA it probably does it at an incredibly slow rate so I fished a tiny strand of printed PLA out of by bin and stuck it in a puddle of dot 4 with a weight to hold it down.
12:01 stuck in in a puddle. The very thin strand is 4 thou diameter so if the dot4 attacks it any appreciable amount it'll probably melt or break right away.
12:11 it's been in the puddle of dot4 10 minutes. I checked and there's no evidence of th PLA melting, the 4 thou strand is still 4 thou, still attached, dosn't snap when you tug on it and hasn't gone soft and floppy when you bend it as if it had been melted.
My conclusion: Whomever put the warning not to use PLA just wanted to sound clever. Maybe over time it might degrade but for using it the once you have no risk of contamination.

Agreed with above, using PLA as a long term container of brake fluid could be a mistake but for a funnel that is in contact with it for what fifteen minutes at a time? Could always just print another next time you need should it have deformed or en brittled in in the two years between brake fluid changes.
On the other hand:
Do BMW sell them and have you checked the price? Not all BMW car parts are as expensive as you might think, bike service parts may also be inexpensive.
